The story behind Art of Coliving.
The Coliving University is a series of online course designed for coliving operators and developers who seek to understand the Art of Coliving in more depth. Tackling modules such as concept creation, community building, and team structuring, the online course is supported by the Art of Coliving online community, personal involvement by founder Gui Perdrix, and the Coliving University workbook.
Back in 2017, Gui Perdrix opened his first coliving space in Barcelona. At that time, coliving was “just” a means to a lifestyle and to live within a group of people that became his community.
After talking to dozens of coliving operators, Gui realized that there was a lack in the market. Many operators were focussed on growing the real estate and financial aspect of their coliving business, leaving out the fundamental part of community-building.
Gui then partnered up with Co-Liv to do a worldtour of 100 coliving spaces in order to learn the art of community building and created his blog Coliving Diaries, which became popular across the coliving scene.
It’s only in the beginning of 2020 that everything came together: how coliving is an art based on scientific elements that can be learned, how Gui’s passion went for human interactions which is a very delicate topic, and how it’s Gui’s role to share the art of shared living with the world.
This is when Coliving Diaries became Art of Coliving, a platform aimed to spread resources, knowledge and education around the depth of building community and running sustainable coliving businesses.
We want to help operators and developers overcome the tension between growth and community building, while at the same time shine light on the methodologies used to create state-of-the-art coliving spaces of tomorrow.
